What Types of Eczema Do You Have?

To this day doctors do not know what exactly causes these types of eczema. Although one major factor may be due to a mal functioning immune system. Other major factors which are now being considered is the use of bathing products and woollen as well as synthetic clothing, excessive sweating has also being taken into account. Temperature and environmental allergens could also be causing outbreaks of eczema.

These types of eczema that most people tend to suffer from is atopic eczema. An outbreak causes the person severe discomfort in that their skin becomes raised and inflamed and they end up scratching due to itchiness and it is thought that maybe this is due to a breakdown of the immune system. The cause of this type of eczema is not known. This types of eczema is also known as vesicular palmoplantar dermatitis and around 20% of people have this condition.

People that commonly suffer from these types of eczema live in areas where the weather is humid and very hot and seeing that this is very specific temperature may be the cause of this type of dermatitis related eczema.

Nummular eczema which only really found in much older men and is found on the back, torso, arms and legs is diagnosed by crusted coin shaped areas and the person will complain of excess irritation and itchiness.

This chronic condition can be traced back to the person’s family history where most members suffer from atopic eczema or they could be asthmas sufferers with a severe allergen history. Should this be the case then elderly person in the family are at high risk of developing nummular dermatitis. Researchers are still unsure about this disease.

There is no associated known cause for nummular dermatitis but it is said that abrasive substances could worsen the eczema such as soaps, washing detergents and topical creams and things like dry skin conditions, or places that have low humidity as well as acne type medications could be causing the onset of this type of eczema and maybe environmental factors.
