Understanding The Importance Of Daily Skin Care
Since your skin is the largest organ on your body, it has some very specific and vital roles. First of all, it protects your internal organs by holding them compactly inside and it acts as a protective barrier that is able to keep infection out of reach and can keep environment temperatures away from our internal organs. The skin is also our indicator when something isn’t right internally. Since the skin has such an important role, we should do our best to take good care of it.
Now that you know the basic reasons why your skin is such an important organ, you really need to take a deeper look into how much exposure and damage that happens daily to it. With each new day, your skin is exposed to many environmental elements such as sun, wind, heat, cold, smog and water. Now you might be thinking that these elements do not sound so bad but in fact they can be very bad for your skin. They will dry out your skin by removing natural moisture, oils and replacing them with toxins.
Your skin is made up of millions of skin cells. Every day you naturally lose thousands of dead skin cells and so the skin is constantly working to replenish the dead ones. Over time the cells get damaged and damaged skin cells is what ultimately leads to damaged skin which results in sagging of the skin and wrinkles.
If you watch TV then you have probably seen a slue of infomercials and regular commercials advertising products that swear to zap wrinkles or repair damaged skin even from years of sun damage. Now I am not saying that these products are falsely advertising or that their products do not work. There are many products on the market that have been found to be effective on wrinkles and prevention of new wrinkles but with so many products that are absolute scams, you have to be careful. many of these products on TV offer cleansers and moisturizers that have natural herbs which are very common in just about every skin care product world wide.
We are not the first generations to use herbal products on our skin. in fact it was discovered that the Egyptians in 3000 BC first used fenugreek and roses on their skin to ward off wrinkles. A common herb found in many skin care products is Aloe Vera. Aloe Vera is a very much loved herb because it has anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial and immune-stimulating properties.
Most people are not ignorant when it comes to skin care. They know that the sun is harmful to the skin and so they may throw on sunscreen for outings to the beach or a day at the park but it is commonly disregarded that everyday you are getting sun exposure while commuting in your car to and from work. You also have sun exposure just walking from your office to your car for lunch. You should be applying either a moisturizer that contains SPF or some sort of make up product that also contains SPF.
